Watching on a TV or phone

The website works everywhere. An app is nicer on a television.

  1. Install Jellyfin from the App Store, Google Play, Fire TV, Android TV, Roku or Apple TV (the Swiftfin app is the iPhone and Apple TV one).
  2. When it asks for a server address, type tv.nizzatv.com.
  3. Sign in with your first name and your password.
At the house? You can use 192.168.1.17:8096 on the home wifi instead. It is a direct connection, so it is faster.

Asking for movies and shows

  1. Open requests.nizzatv.com and choose Sign in with Jellyfin.
  2. Search for what you want and tap Request.
  3. For a TV show, leave every season ticked. New episodes then arrive by themselves each week as they come out.
  4. Come back to Jellyfin in a few hours. It will be there. Nobody has to approve anything.
Very new releases and obscure titles can take longer, or may not turn up. Give it a day before asking again.

Live TV

  1. Open Jellyfin and tap Live TV in the menu.
  2. Pick a channel, or open Guide to see what is on.

Books

  1. Go to get.nizzatv.com and search for the title or author.
  2. Tap download on the right one. Pick ebook or audiobook.
  3. After a few minutes it shows up in read.nizzatv.com (ebooks) or books.nizzatv.com (audiobooks).
Audiobookshelf has free phone apps for iPhone and Android. Use books.nizzatv.com as the server address, and your progress follows you between devices.

Books on a Kindle or e-reader

Kindle
  1. Open read.nizzatv.com, find the book, and tap Download to save the EPUB file.
  2. Go to amazon.com/sendtokindle and sign in to your Amazon account.
  3. Drag the file in (or tap Select files on a phone), pick your Kindle, and tap Send.
  4. It appears in your Kindle library within a minute or two, as long as the Kindle is on Wi-Fi. Amazon converts the EPUB for you.

The Kindle phone app works the same way. The Send to Kindle page is Amazon's own, so it needs your Amazon login, not ours.

Boox (or any Android e-reader)
  1. Open the Boox browser and go to read.nizzatv.com. Sign in.
  2. Find the book and tap Download. It lands in your Downloads folder.
  3. Open the Boox Library and tap the file to read it. Your Boox reader handles EPUB and PDF.

Want the whole library on the device? Install the free KOReader app. On read.nizzatv.com, open your profile menu, then Settings, then 3rd Party Clients, and tap the copy button next to your OPDS URL. In KOReader, tap the magnifying glass, choose OPDS catalog, add a new catalog, and paste that URL. Use your name as the username. The password can be anything. Then you can browse and download books right on the e-reader.

Kobo, iPad, or reading in a phone app

Download the EPUB from read.nizzatv.com the same way. On an iPhone or iPad, tap the downloaded file, then Share, then Books. A Kobo takes the file if you plug it into a computer and drop it in the Kobo's folder.

Taking an audiobook with you

Listen in the Audiobookshelf phone app (best)
  1. Install Audiobookshelf from the App Store or Google Play (it is free).
  2. Enter https://books.nizzatv.com as the server, then sign in with your name and password.
  3. Open the book and tap the download arrow. It saves to your phone, so you can listen with no signal or Wi-Fi.
  4. Your place syncs. Start on the phone, pick up in the car or on the computer.
Use a different audiobook app

Open books.nizzatv.com in your phone's browser, tap the book, then tap the three dots and Download. You get a file ending in .m4b or .mp3.

iPhone: tap the file in Downloads, tap Share, then Books to play it in Apple Books. Android: open it with any audiobook player, such as Smart AudioBook Player.

The apps ShelfPlayer and Prologue (iPhone) also connect straight to books.nizzatv.com and give you the same library.

Tip: download on Wi-Fi first. A full audiobook is a few hundred megabytes.

Photos

  1. Install the Immich app and use photos.nizzatv.com as the server address.
  2. Sign in with firstname@nizzatv.com and your password.
  3. Turn on Backup if you want your phone photos saved automatically.

If something goes wrong

It says it cannot find the server

Type just tv.nizzatv.com, with no https:// in front and no slash at the end. At the house, try 192.168.1.17:8096.

The picture keeps pausing or looks blocky

Tap the quality setting while it plays and pick a lower one. On a phone it looks the same and never stutters.

I cannot sign in

Your username is your first name with a capital letter, with no spaces. Photos is the one exception: it wants firstname@nizzatv.com. Still stuck? Ask Mike.

There are no subtitles, or they are wrong

Tap the speech-bubble icon while playing and pick another subtitle. New ones are found automatically within a day.

I asked for something and it has not shown up

Most things arrive within a few hours. If it is still missing after a day, tell Mike and he will look.
